Signing up for Google Groups with Google App Dmail ID

It doesn’t make any sense to me that I can’t sign up for Google Groups with my Google Apps ID. After a little searching, I found this:

http://groups.google.com/group/GroupName/boxsubscribe?email=myid

Replace “Group Name” with the name of the group (look in the url) and “myid” with your google apps email address. You’ll receive a confirmation email; after you click the link you’re signed up.

But this only work so well. When you visit the group’s page, you don’t actually appear to be signed into the group, so who’s to say what you’re missing out on in terms of customizing your options. And the group does not appear in the group module your dashboard.

Hopefully Google will improve this in the future. Right after they overhaul their help center, or at least fix all the broken links therein.
